Re: PP Friday Special - Is this type of play common?
Actually whether you raise, call or fold this makes little difference to your EV.

I was thinking the same as Tosh. I am not sure it makes a huge difference either.

Straight forward Party
RAISE utg w AJ: why?.........
You are at Party where people will play anything. Tournament: winning a few chips is fine. Bet on the flop. Straight forward play is best in big tourneys and Party because people will call your check raise without thinking once they have 1 bet in. You want to win it right there, not give people odds to call. The biggest factor is you are playing at PARTY! Wiser to check at the river with a flush board. |

Re: PP Friday Special - Is this type of play common?
We'll have to agree to disagree on that one then, because I still don't like the limp. I would rather just fold it and wait for better position.
I think style of play is going to be a very personal decision. I play a little looser pre-flop, and a lot tighter post flop in tournaments, unless there is a raise ahead of me, then I play very tight in tournies. BUt I have seen a lot of very good tournament players playing very loose with great success. THey play aggressively post-flop and have a great sense for what their opponent holds, and they only do it with position. |
