500 man ps tourny.. made it down to 30 some players left and blinds are at 600/1200, moving up in 5 minutes. I am extremely short at 6000 some and i get the A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] early mid pos. UTG folds and UTG+1 (chip leader at the table w/ about 66K) makes a baby raise - 2400 to go. Calling will leave me with 3600 left, and with another 2 hands before the blinds hit me. I put him on a pair between 10s and Qs and move in, thinking I'm better off taking an even money shot now rather than waiting for the blinds to hit me and possibly not get a hand nearly as good. Initial raiser shows QQ and the board brings no help and I bust out. Is there any possible way I could have gotten out of this? Exact same situation happened in a tourny the day before when I held 10s..

You put him at exactly what he had and you got your 48% or so chance of dbl up. I think it was well played.

Why would you want to get out? You are short stacked and should be grateful for this opportunity. With antes in the pot you are getting a nice overlay, even though you have the worse side of the coinflip.

I am more interested on why you immediately put him on TT-QQ with so little information?

You have to play this, period. You want it heads up, so reraise all in is the only play here, imo.

Judging from his and the tables play during that blind period, min and 3x raises utg were usually 10s thru Qs and the only hands being limped up front were KK/AA/AK..

[/ QUOTE ] That's quite a read...I would say that if his reads are this good, then he wouldn't be shortstacked. After all, couldn't he "read" his blind stealing opponent for exactly J7off and call with his dominating J8o? |
