Default Comp City... Anyone work it?

Hi 2+2ers:

Was wondering if anyone on the board is an experienced "Comp Counter" as outlined in Max Rubin's (excellent) book Comp City?

Because poker is such a +EV game for me, thats where I usually spend my time in Vegas, but I'd like to take the non-gambling wife out this fall and I'm thinking of giving this angle a shot rather than just pay regular prices for a nice weekend for us.

While my normal choke point at Blackjack has always been $10-$15 a hand, I could easily secure $5-$10K in casino credit and get up the nerve (this is the tough part I think) to start betting greens and the well comp-timed black or two (gulp)

We're simple folk, just looking for RFL (even just R is fine) and maybe a show or two. With the bankroll and betting greens to start I figure the Orleans would be a good place to start out at since I like it there anyways.

So.. anyone live the comp city life? Anyone try it and have it fail? Anyone have any other advice for me regarding getting more comps than perhaps deserved in Vegas?

Thanks for any responses...
