Thanks for the help everyone. Good to know I'm not alone in my predicament. I did download Robert's Rules version 3 and it did not mention order of hands. I guess that's too basic for even Robert! Any ideas for where else I can get rules that contain VERY basic information?

You could print off this page which includes reference to high cards, kickers etc.

1) You explain the rules of poker to him. It's a pretty easy explanation that an Ace high flush beats a K high flush. Show him how hands are mad in a holdem game.

2)I probably would not be inclined to play in a game that sponsors non-legitimate rules.

3) IF he's a pain the ass and refuses to learn the real rules, I would probably grow weary of him being in my game.
