Default AKs from the BB, capped pot

This was about my third or fourth hand tonight. I posted in the CO a few hands before. I hadn't seen anything extraordinary in the short time I'd been sitting.

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
3 folds, MP2 calls, 1 fold, CO calls, Button raises, SB calls, Hero 3-bets, MP2 calls, CO calls, Button caps, SB folds, Hero calls, MP2 calls, CO calls.

Flop: (18 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players)
Hero checks, MP2 checks, CO checks, Button bets, Hero raises, MP2 calls, CO folds, Button 3-bets, Hero calls, MP2 calls.

Turn: (13.50 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, MP2 checks, Button bets, Hero calls, MP2 calls.

River: (16.50 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, MP2 checks, Button bets, Hero calls, MP2 folds.

Final Pot: 18.50 BB
Main Pot: 18.50 BB, between Button and Hero.

Tips? Thoughts? Flames?

Anybody do anything differently?

Hey Cold,
I think your line here is fine. I would prolly play the same and cross my fingers at the river for QQ or a maniac otb. My only thought when reading the hand is possibly checkraising the turn to see how he reacts, but that is most likely throwing away money.

I did think about check-raising the turn but decided most of the time here the best outcome I could hope for was a split with another AK. This was pretty much what I was wondering about -- whether or not I should have put in one more raise. I also didn't really want to have to fold if I was 3-bet on the turn, so I decided to just call it down.

No big surprise with the results: she showed AA, and my hand sucked the big one.

I wouldn't have thought of check-raising the flop, but it seems to have helped define her hand ie she has a huge pair, and isn't afraid of anything you might have, so most likely aces or kings.

Is that the main reason for this check-raise? I've never seen it done before with this hand in this particular way. Would you still have done it if there wasn't a spade on the flop?

I would still call the turn, though I'd be fairly certain she had KK or AA. She might have QQ or JJ, though I don't know that most people would play them that strongly after being c/raised from a pf raiser.

The river... I hate folding when a pot is that big, and being only *mostly* but not *completely* sure that I'm beat, I'd have to call it.

I like the way you played it. It is certainly interesting and different. What I generally do is the same, except I see me stop-n-going on the flop & turn.

I think I would've check raised the turn. Alot of people will play QQ/JJ the same way as he played his hand. If you get 3bet, then just call down.

I could be wrong but I think the CR is to clean up outs and maybe see a free river. The info is gravy. Is that right c.c.?

Ah, I see. Like increasing your shot at winning by forcing others out. Got it, makes perfect sense. Since the button is aggressing, everyone else would have to call 2 to continue.

I'd check/raise the turn. You are really only behind AA or KK with the way she's playing. You'll find out if she 3 bets on you on the turn and then I call down from there. If she just calls the check/raise on turn I would consider betting the river perhaps they will give you more credit.

But I also don't disagree with your play since she's going nuts the whole way.

Flop ,good

I would bet the turn, if they just call you are likely ahead.

Good shot at trapping MP2 for 2 bets, MP2 likely has garbage here.

I see your point with betting out. The more I think about this, perhaps it would be even better. Since now if they raise behind they are telling you where they are at even more and will probably make MP2 get trapped. Good points.
