Sorry, I hadn't read the TA post (no reason for me to hang out in the High Stakes Forum...lol). I have now read said post, and it is even more obvious that DS does indeed have a sense of humor.

Not entirely true, Ed gave me a ride in his car. Actually, he gave me a ride in a car; I'm not sure if it was his.

That car was "on loan" from a particularly wealthy-looking chap who seemed well able to afford another one.
