Something I\'m Sick of:
No need to post that a site is down. I have never ONCE, before signing onto an online poker site, said to myself, "Self? I wonder if xyz Poker is down right now? Maybe, I should check 2+2...FIRST!" Of course, I get to 2+2, have to wade through the piles of Monk, Skunk, Punk, Chunk, and Dilbert Posts to see if that site is indeed down.
I can very well figure out that a site is down, if the poster was able to in the first place. Tell me, what is the value of these threads. Once it is established a site is down, what do we talk about (assuming the thread stays on topic)... "Is it back yet?" "No." "How about Now?" "Not yet, maybe in a little while!" "Has anyone else checked?" "Yes, its down for me too!" "Any Idea when its coming back on?" "No, I can't seem to access the site!" "What will they do with the tourney entries?" "Gee, I don't know, maybe they will keep them this time!" "Damn, if that's the case, I must be getting blinded off right now, can somebody check for me?" "Sight is down, no word when it will be back up!" "Oh, so there has been a word?" "No, no access right now, I will keep you posted. Update, site still down." "Can somebody check abc Poker to see if its up? We might be experiencing an industry wide crash!" "abc Poker is up, must just be a problem with xyz Poker!" "Are you sure, abc and xyz are both part of the F.U.2. gaming network!" "Yeah, I'm sure, because there are no threads about abc being down." "Oh. Maybe its because xyz is in Canada? We should check all the Indian Tribe Casinos just to be sure." "Ok, I will post an update." "Anyone on xyz yet?" "No, still down, no word yet."

ummmm.....how about if you are in the middle of the tournament and don't know if it's your connection or if it's the site and you are wondering if other are having problems??
how about if you are new to the room and are curious if this is a regular occurance there?? how about if you are asking about their general policy for refunds for ring-games or tournaments if you aren't familiar?? or the willingness of customer-support to provide assitance here?? there have been several people disconnected from party tournaments who were unable to reconnect in spite of the fact that the tournament was proceeding without them. perhaps it would be helpful to them if they knew whether everyone got knocked out or if it was just them. these are the reasons why i read and post on such issues anyway. i don't check the forums in advance of logging-on...but if i can't log-on to the poker-site, then i check the forums to see if someone else is having a problem or not.

Just the opposite
I don't find much thing on this forum more useful than this, I live in asia, and I play tournament exclusively, I experience connection problem nearly everyday for all sort of reasons, if I don't know which side the problem is, I wouldn't know where to look for, where to call, and most importantly how to fix it(it may involve riding my bicycle half a mile to a local Internet pub). There's nothing else on this forum can save me so much time and money.
