Default Tough Laydown

100$ NL at PP.

player seemed aggressive, but no real read.

Does anyone lay this down?

MP1 ($198.20)
MP2 ($96)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG calls $2, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls $2, MP2 folds, CO folds, Button folds, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: ($8) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players)

i don't often play at those limits, i play primarily at the 50 buy in 6 max, however i would have a hard time laying this down. his huge reraise is a little suspicous and i would be more likely to put him on an overpair then 7-7.
of course discretion is the better part of valor but i think that in the long run folding this hand in this situation is -EV.

Without a solid read on your opponent, the only hands I could put him on (that he might try this play with) that you'd be beating are 98 of spades and a set of 3s. You've invested $20 in this pot so far; no since in risking a large part of your stack in this situation.

I call but think that your EV is barely positive. Even with the flush draw on the board I'd suspect that top set or a straight would try to get more value out of this hand.

what about 76? -- a fragile holding against a (perceived)overpair that one might play that way.

You got lucky and cracked his overpair CALL CALL CALL. You may be up against AK of spades, but still CALL CALL CALL. No way he makes that bet with a set of 7's so you have the nuts when the money is in the pot. It was obviously not a "I want you to call" bet.

Variance may be a b itch, but I make that call in a heartbeat. I think you're playing scared because of the huge stack you don't want to lose. It may be worthwhile at some point to cash out your table and start over at 50. I'll bet with a 50 dollar stack (with relative sized bets) you'd call this in a heartbeat. He obviously doesn't have 77 because most PPers would slowplay the hell out of it. I'm thinking overpair, or something like A7s that he's trying to protect.
