Default Is this a good time for a turn check-raise?

Party 5/10 6 max game.

I raised a weak limper with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Another weak but somewhat aggressive player called on the button and the SB and limper came along.

The flop was Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. The SB bet out, weak limper called, I raised, button called, SB folded, limper folded. Heads up to the turn which was the 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Is this a good spot to try for the turn check raise or am I better off betting?

I would bet.. you do have a good hand but not so good that you can afford to risk a free card. Also I find that the party 5 players are more comfortable calling than betting, so I do not think you can rely on him, even a somewhat aggressive player, to bet most of the time.

You raised the flop and have only one player (who cold called) acting after you on the turn. The flop cold call is more often a sing of stupidity than strength. I don't think he will bet very often here. Bet the turn. Bet the river. The turn check raise works best if you are in early positon and have multiple callers, or a raise behind you.

The aggressive player is playing the hand passively, its hard to know what they could sensibly have called 2 bets with on the flop.

Hopefully for you they are just playing badly and don't have 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]!
