You also have two overcards. I think that adds significant strength to your hand.
If he bets, you have to call, right? And then you're pot committed. So why not push now? Of course, I don't play many tournaments, and I've been drinking, but I think this play makes a lot of sense. |

only reason I can see not to push is if you know your opponent is a calling maniac, which it seems like he might be. If I firmly believed that he would call with any ace or any pair, I'd check, but failing that, I'd push too.

well it definitely worked! I havent had good success heads up with going all in with this type of hand so take my words with a grain of salt but I would rather have the A5. In fact i made this exact play today in a home game and got busted.
one thing in your favor is that you have two overcards to the board so this is a different situation than just going all in with a mere draw. Pat |

I would rather not have the A5 because I wouldn't want to have to call this bet. Seems to me if you're going to call an all-in bet on a flop this scary, with nothing but ace high, you should go all-in before the flop and trust that ace to see you through.
I actually would have thought KQ was favored over A5 on this flop, but A5 is a razor-thin 51-49 favorite. Be that as it may, the substantial chance of inducing a fold makes your flop bet clearly correct. Most of us have bluffed at a flop with far less. |
