I know I should fold....
Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (10 handed)
Argh... I know I'm beat so many times when I play hands like this. I know he's got a solid hand when he check raises, but I can't seem to let it go, knowing its going to cost me 2BB and praying for a good river card. Guess this is good reason not to move up in limits yet? Preflop: Hero is Button with T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO folds, Hero raises, SB folds, BB calls, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls. Flop: (8.50 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players) BB checks, UTG checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets, BB calls, UTG folds, UTG+1 calls. Turn: (5.75 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) BB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets, BB raises, UTG+1 folds, Hero calls. River: (9.75 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets, Hero calls. Final Pot: 11.75 BB Results in white below: BB shows 9s Kd (two pair, kings and nines). Hero shows Ts Ac (one pair, aces). Outcome: BB wins 11.75 BB. |

Re: I know I should fold....
Nothing wrong with calling this down. As you move up in limits, you will get pushed out of a lot of pots if you fold to every turn check-raise.

Re: I know I should fold....
You have eight outs on the turn, and you are getting 9-to-1 to call the check-raise. Do you still think you should fold?

Re: I know I should fold....
You do have eight outs, but you don't know that. When I'm check-raised on the turn here, eight outs is my best case scenario (K9 or K6). Often he'll have a set, which results in me drawing dead on the turn. Other times he'll have two pair but share my ace and I'm drawing to 6 outs. The size of the pot here still makes me call, but I'll fold on the river unimproved against an average opponent.

I only count 5 outs, where are the other 3?

Hero has 2 aces, 3 tens, and 3 sixes. if the six pairs, he has Aces and sixes which beat kings and nines. -AA P.S. Noted Poker Authority Ed Miller's Outs Extravaganza Quiz. |

Re: I know I should fold....
yeah, this is what jrobb83 mentioned.
Unless I can look into the person's soul and divine that he has K9o, I am thinking he has A9. i really can't see anyone slowplaying a strong flop hand at this limit and with this flop. So if he has A9, you still have six outs (three Kings, three tens). I'd call the turn. unimproved on the river, I'd fold, but if this opponent was overly aggressive, i'd call it down. -AA |

Re: I know I should fold....
I doubt BB has A9. A typical player with A9 probably leads or raises the flop.
