Medium pockets pairs in very late stages
2 tables left. Blinds are 1500/3000. You have 30k in chips. You pick up 99. Its folded to you with 4 people to go. Sitting to the left, passive (31k), aggressive (33k), 10k, 10k. The aggressive guy re-raises all in seemingly everything pre-flop.
I don't think I can call an all in with 99. So I shove my chips in, just to pick up 4500 in blinds. There's 20 people left, my stack is about average, would you go all in on that medium pocket pair? |

I push for the blinds too if I think it's unlikely I can get to a flop for a smallish bet.

Re: Medium pockets pairs in very late stages
Well if anyone's still interested. I got called by QJ sooted. The queen hit the turn, and I was out. I still can't believe that passive guy would call all his chips off with Queen Jack. What could I have done?

I think you made the right move.

Re: Medium pockets pairs in very late stages
Right move, terrible play by caller, and bad luck by you. I might expect one of the 10k stacks to make that call, but certainly not one of the 30k stacks.
Sometimes stupid wins. But usually not when I'm stupid unfortunatly. |
