Re: When they show you one card
Here is how it is done at Canterbury.... Show one, show all is used when a player shows his cards to another player, it entitles all players to see both his cards. (show one..meaning show one player. show all...meaning show all players) A called, or checked hand on the river entitles any player at the table to ask to see the hands. (note: If player A (who was about to get the pot) asks to see a hand that was discarded, and the discarded hand turns out to be the winning hand, the hand will be ruled live and Player B will get the pot. As for the scenario of winning by default and then showing one card, we have what is affectionately referred to as the 'no needle rule'. This means if you show that one card, any player may ask to see the second card. It has worked very well in our card room and puts an end to many arguments before they start. Most of our players are aware of this rule and inform other players about it when it comes up. (It seldom comes up anymore.) It may seem like an unnecessary rule, but the 'no needle rule' and the 'zero tolerance for abuse' policies are part of the reasons we have more social/friendly playing environment than many other card rooms. I believe many rooms have adopted a similiar policy, although it may be called something other than 'no needle' rule. Annie |
