flopped quads - slowplay fell apart
I'm sure this was not played optimally. Table was med-loose, fairly passive. I had seen only one hand go to a big betting war, and none of those players are involved in this hand.
Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is UTG with 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Hero calls, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, CO folds, Button folds, SB folds, BB checks. Flop: (5.50 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players) BB checks, Hero checks, MP1 bets, MP2 folds, MP3 raises, BB folds, Hero calls, MP1 calls. Sweet! They're betting my hand for me. I didn't want to anyone to call two cold, so I'm ready to c/r the field on the turn. Turn: (5.75 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero checks, MP1 checks, MP3 bets, Hero calls, MP1 folds. Sweet! Flush got there. Hmm...I guess in retrospect I missed a couple of bets here. I was still thinking I didn't want anyone to call 2 cold. This still allows me to c/r the river... River: (7.75 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, MP3 bets, Hero raises, MP3 folds. Boy, I messed this one good. And Damn that 4th flush card. Final Pot: 10.75 BB Main Pot: 9.75 BB, won by Hero. Pot 2: 1 BB, overbet by Hero. Results in white below: Hero shows 8d 8c (four of a kind, eights). Outcome: Hero wins 10.75 BB. Flame away. Thanks, -David |

Re: flopped quads - slowplay fell apart
It happens. I think you did fine calling the turn with one guy to act behind you. As the hand turned out a c/r might have gotten both to fold. Your opponent needs a decent hand for you to get good action in a case like this. I can imagine him having 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] or something here.
