Default Determining Stud win/losses

I am having a hard time determining what to count as a loss in stud in reference to third street. I try to keep a good track of hands ive won and lost but when is a good time to consider the hand a true loss? i mean if im dealt (24)7 rainbow there no way in hell im playing that but is that a "loss"?

Don't think in terms of hands won or lost. You are going to lose far more hands than you win. In fact, if you play in an eight-handed game, and you play at all properly, you will win somewhat less than one-eighth of the hands you are dealt, unless you've stumbled on the only game in the country where players play too tight. Anyway, you should worry about money won and lost, not hands.

If you define "loss" by losing money, regardless of the amount, and you are playing in an ante game then anytime you fold you lose. Why are you trying to keep track of "3rd street losses"?

I don't even understand the importance of this statistic. Could someone explain it to me?

You're fine. NOT asking questions when you're trying to learn is stupid.

If you're talking about caluclating a win rate per 100 hands, then you count every hand dealt, i.e. play 1000 hands and win $50 is a win rate of $5 per 100 hands.

If you are tracking win rate per hour, that's done in terms of big bets per hour. If you win $500 in 100 hours and you are playing $1/$2, your win rate is 2.5 big bets per hour:
($500/100 hours)/$2 big bet).

As to which calculation is superior, I don't know and maybe one of the savvier posters can tell me. I track big bets per hour.
