Default Playing with a low BR?

Having to make some withdrawals i'm down to a very short BR, and I'm thinking about how to change my game before I play on. So basically, I'm not looking to maximize EV, but to minimize variance. One idea was to sit down with less than max buyin (how much less?), attempting to double up with stuff like TPTK so I don't give implied odds, and when I have doubled up, leave, and repeat.

Any other ideas? General tips? Suggestions? Thanks

If my goal were to attempt to win pots with TPTK and minimize variance I would want to have enough chips to bet and protect my hand.

Sit rock tight and play big pairs all in preflop and play smaller pairs for sets. Avoid draws and hands like AJ, KQ.

Dont play the limit you play. Move back down to a smaller limit, or get a job.

i would just not play any drawing hands. your idea of playing for a half buyin is interesting. however, it will be tough to play potential monster floppers like small pocket pairs. also, never call preflop raises unless you have a pocket pair. flop or drop. only reraise with aa, kk, aks. hell, now that i think about it, you could probably just play aa,kk,qq,ak and turn a profit in these games. and your variance should be small. if you do this with a partial buyin, it will be easy to get all your money in on the flop and get calls by weaker hands. plus, you would have more hands to get cracked before you are broke. this would probably cut your win rate a lot though, and you really wanna reduce variance/winrate. i'm not sure if my idea would accomplish that. another idea would be to casino whore to get the br back up. i started with $50 and ran that up to 650 in 2 weeks. just start with lucky nugget (50 deposit gets 200 bonus) and it is almost impossible to go bust with that $50. check out casinowhores.com(i think). they set out the easiest way to make money from casinos. also, i am not affiliated with them. i am just a very happy whore!
