Ethics of poker. The only way you can make a profit is if you prey on people who play worse than you.Or you can find an honest game with someone who wants to take on a pro.Doing the latter one i dont have a problem with. everyone on here agree, right ? |

What's unethical about counting cards? Casinos offer games at which they have an advantage and advantage players play games at which they can obtain an advantage. So, advantage players are just like casinos, only on a smaller scale. If you don't like advantage players, then you must not like casinos either. Obviously casinos aren't going to like it when people try to beat them at their own game, since they are in the business of making money, but that doesn't mean there is anything unethical about using your brain in an attempt to beat them. Ethics of poker. The only way you can make a profit is if you prey on people who play worse than you.Or you can find an honest game with someone who wants to take on a pro.Doing the latter one i dont have a problem with. So you do have a problem with taking money from people who play worse than you? It's not like good players strap bad players to a chair and force them to play until they lose all their money -- they are willing to do it themselves, whether it's because they're out for a good time or because they think they are good enough to win. When you're playing poker against poor players, think of yourself as an entertainer. They are paying you money to sit down and play poker with them. You are the cost of entertainment, or something like that. -- Homer |

Re: Gambling ethics question
Personally, I feel its unethical for casinos to barr card counters. They have an edge over you and they exploit it to every possible degree. However, as soon as you try to get an edge on you, they try to snatch it away from you. There is nothing inherently wrong with counting, but casinos are businesses and its simply bad business to allow people to take their money, so they have the right to refuse service to anyone they see fit.
IMO, casinos should welcome card counters and advertise them around. That way it'll draw in the fish around the world believing that they too could be beating blackjack. |

Why don't we? This could really help out the win rate. Sort of "Poker Bondage" if you will. NOW THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT! |

Re: Gambling ethics question
It's hardly enethical to beat the heck out of players who aren't as good as you are. Why are is the better player better? He/she concentrates more read and studied about the game, has practiced, keeps records, and takes it seriously. He puts more effort into it. He isn't drunk or high. He doesn't let his emotions get the best of him, which as a side benefit means he is better behaved.

Re: Gambling ethics question
here's how i look at it.
i'm not the one making them sit down and play. and if they're that lousy, they're going to lose their money anyway. if they don't lose it to me...they'll lose it to someone else. |
