Passivity lost the pot
I think my failure to bet out on the flop (and follow through) cost me the pot here. I didn't bet because I was "afraid" of the pre-flop raiser. (Why? Who knows. The worst he could have done is raise me.)
Questions: 1. Given that I didn't bet out, should I have tried to recover by 3-betting the flop? 2. What could I have done on the turn here? Bet out? 3-bet? Is there any justification for cold-calling 2 bets here once I didn't bet out? 3. What hands do you put UTG and MP1 on? Re: Passivity lost the pot
1. Yes, I would bet the flop. You will found out quickly if he was playing a big A. Otherwise, you are probably good. When it played out as it did, I would not 3-bet. It sure looks like someone hit two-pair, possibly a set.
2. You are probably behind, but the pot is big enough that you want a chance to win it. I think a call is easily justified here. Then check/call the river. 3. Looks like two pair or a set, but they are going to have to show me. |

Re: Passivity lost the pot
I have the solution to all your post flop questions. Fold pre-flop.
If somebody raises from UTG and you dont know for sure that he is a maniac, you must fold this hand. |

UTG and MP1 both show A6o for a chop. By getting me to fold, MP1's aggression won himself a share of a big pot (and put me on tilt for the next 20 minutes ).

Re: Results
Ohh well. Now you know he will raise with Axo junk, note it and move on.
In the future, just muck this hand. |
