dm34-

You messed it up by not hitting a J on the river (or at least pairing the board for the chop). Otherwise, you did fine IMHO.

I would have charged the club draws more on the flop (probably 200-250) and then pushed on the turn whether a club hit or not, but that wouldn't have changed the outcome in this scenario.

Will you run into a bigger kicker doing it this way? Every once in a while, yes, but not often enough to do anything but take this all the way when the pot is 25% of your stack preflop.

Mathematically speaking, one of your 6 opponents will have a T 22.5% of the time. Even when they have one, the 9/8 kickers will almost balance out the A/K/Q hands so you're not far behind even here. 44 also beats you, of course, but I still think you'll be up against a flush draw much more often than a hand that beats you.

Add in that the flop caller is the table chip leader and can afford to chase the flush even knowing you could redraw to your boat AND that I would have expected a reraise from him if he had T-big kicker, and I would not be able to fold this.

But I often overplay second best hands.

So consider the price you paid for this advice since I've never cashed at an event with a buyin above $100...

Yea, looking back i might have bet more on the flop, but obviously there was no way I was avoiding defeat here.

You could have folded on the all in re raise from him. What hand did you think he had? with so many limpers for the flop the other T was lurking plus all the flush draws.
saying that I might have done the same as u! trips are hard to lay down.
