Quick Question Regarding Spreads

I am headed to Reno for an upcoming weekend and I figured I would play a little Hold 'Em while I was there. I was checking out a few places to play and I came across some odd spreads and I don't know how they work (I usually play $3-6 or $4-8) and was wondering if someone could fill me in. How does the betting work in $1-5 Hold 'Em and in something listed as $1-4-8 Hold 'Em? I have never seen these in the local casino. Is there a big difference in strategy?
