Re: Final Table 33 Party Multi
I agree with Morgant 100%. Pocket Pairs, even small ones, need to be played agressively when you are real short stacked. Exception: Several other small stacks in the same situation as you and survival could result in a nice bump in cash.
If the BB calls, so be it. Spike a four and triple up. Otherwise likely go home. Always better to go with a bang than a whimper in my opinion. I'd push with this hand every single time in this instance, unless I had something much stronger on the limper than what the post suggests. And then, maybe push anyway. |

Re: Final Table 33 Party Multi
I favor calling with the intention of moving in as first to act on any flop.
I am surprised at how effective the stop and go is and remains, each time I pull it off, I keep thinking to myself, someday this will be as ineffective as raising trying to buy a free card is on most tables. Preflop, If the big blind comes over the top, and the limper calls, I would release and hope one of them busts. If the limper folds, I would call and take my 4s all-in in a heads up situation. By moving in on the flop, unless I have a monster, I am hoping both or at least one of the opponents folds. Gewürtztraminer |

Further Question
I called.
I don't think this is a mistake and if it is, it's not by much. What happened next presented me with another tough decision. The BB raised 50,000 more. By the way, both the BB and the limper had over 150,000. The limper called the 50,000. What do you do? Peace Goodie |

Re: Further Question
fold for sure... very likely u are a up against an overpair and 2 overcards... the best case scenario is 3-4 overcards.
id much rather push allin 1st in and have a chance to steal than to call off my chips when i only have ~20-35% chance chance to win |

Re: Further Question
While I was reading the earlier discussion I was unsure whether calling or pushing was better. But this scenario where the BB raises 50,0000 demonstrates that calling is the right move, since now you can safely fold and have a whole round to catch a hand.

Re: Further Question
A few scenarios:
1. AKs and overpair 4c 4h 244493 17.84 1122401 81.88 3860 0.28 0.179 Ah Kh 536759 39.16 830135 60.56 3860 0.28 0.393 8s 8d 585642 42.72 781252 56.99 3860 0.28 0.428 2. Two overpairs 4c 4h 213240 15.56 1153867 84.18 3647 0.27 0.156 As Ah 886679 64.69 480428 35.05 3647 0.27 0.648 8s 8d 267188 19.49 1099919 80.24 3647 0.27 0.196 3. AKo and JTs 4c 4h 403747 29.45 963325 70.28 3682 0.27 0.295 Ks Ah 474319 34.60 892753 65.13 3682 0.27 0.347 Jd Td 489006 35.67 878066 64.06 3682 0.27 0.358 You're getting 76000 for your 23000. Around 3.3:1. I probably gamble and call knowing full well that it will be an FTOP error a large % of the time. Even when it isn't an error, my edge isn't large. However, if I fold I probably get eighth about half the time anyway, seventh 40% and 6th or better 10%. When I do hit my 4, I've got T99000 and the button. One good hand could make me the chip leader. So, folding wins me nothing or $300 the vast majority of the time. Calling wins me nothing the vast majority of the time, but I usually win big ($2000-6000) when I hit. I'll trade the $200 or so EV of folding for the EV of calling (whatever that is). At least I will until MBE calculates both scenarios and shows how dumb that is. Later, Che |
