Default WSOP satellites at Harrah\'s AC

Called down to the poker room today for some info. I was told that twice weekly until 04/28 there will be a $250 buy into a 9 handed game and there will be 10 tables running.
Guys, help me out here; the guy on the phone tells me "We play and then the 5 chip leaders from each night will move on to the semi-finals in May and first place will get the 10K entry and a trip to Vegas and the others in the money will get cash. HUH? How do you get chip leaders from a tourney when ten tables are playing down to ten winners and everyone will have won the same amount? What am I missing?
My only answer is that it is a timed tourney - guess I should have thought of that before I hung up.

What I don't get is why they have to do it in two nights? And why are they saying one seat? If they have 10 tables of 9 people at $250 a night, that's $22,500 or enough to send 2 people for each prelim night.

Which is why it's better owning shares of Harrah's Entertainment rather than playing there.

The answer is going to knock you over. The $250, is actually $150+$100. Yes, the juice is 67%. They are going to use something like $15,000 for first place (seat, accomodations, travel, etc.) and pay the remaining prize money to the 2nd through whatever finishers in the final round.

That's pretty interesting...semi final qualifiers in May when the WSOP is being hosted at the end of this month (April).

Is this for WSOP 2005?

It also seems pretty interesting that the main event starts at the end of next month (May 22nd to be precise)
