Default Bet this river?

Nice passive six handed 10-20 game online. Button open limps, SB completes and I check my option in BB with T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Three ways to flop.

Flop-Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

SB checks, I bet. Button folds and SB calls. Headsup.

Turn-Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Check, bet, call.

River-Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

He checks and I bet.

My question is: against weak opposition, will my river bet be called enough by worse hands to make it worth it?

From my experience in these games, you will often get called by ace high, so yes, I think you can make this bet against a weak opponent. You will at times run into a better 8, but i think it's an overall +ev play.

He called my river bet and my hand was good. Hand History revealed that he held K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] for higher flush draw and bottom pair. I didn't think my bet was a super obvious one on this river but maybe against this clown it was.

Definately, any 4, 3, 2, 77, 66, 55 and sometimes A high will call, but more importantly: You are very unlikely to be called by better hands, so even if you'll only be called a fraction of the time, you should bet!
