Well, I've read a hundred posts here about "action flops", strange turns, rivers that "always" make the big-dog a winner, and when you are running bad.......these things happen. Online, they happen so often that I keep reading about the sites being "fixed".
So, today at my local Bricks and Morter $6/$12 game I had KK and the river was a Queen for a 22-1 draw and got beat by trip queens. Two hands later a player flopped a full house with his pocket twos, and the river was a 7 maing someone a higher full. Later, I again had KK and was against AK who flopped aces - but I made the 44-1 suckout on the end catching the case King ..........so I have to make the obvious conclusion that my local B&M casino is "rigged"....... ONLY possible conclusion. I do notice that its always the <Losers> that are complaining about this internet problem, the winners don't seem to mind. |

World Series of Poker 2002. 3 Players left. UTG Julian Gardener is dealt TT. He puts in a modest raise. Small Blind (forget the player) is dealt JJ and goes all in over the top. Big Blind Varkoni is dealt AA and goes all in with his huge stack.
It's funny how you talk about action flops and then you go on to talk about how you have seen QQ vs. KK vs. AA twice, these are hole cards bud. |

Anyway, your thinking (if you honestly believe the Internet sites are not dealing a random deck) is just stupid.
I don't know how to put it any other way. I'm sorry. It's just really dumb. You're not sorry. If you were you wouldn't have said it twice and you would have said it with a little more consideration the first time. This is like when people say, "No offense, but...", followed by some variation of an insult. -- Homer |

why are there so many conspiracy theorists out there lately?? [/ QUOTE ] Conspiracy theories have always been with us, and probably always will be, unfortunately. They're not unique to online poker; I once worked as a data-entry operator for the John Birch Society (for about 6 months, and hey, I was young and foolish!), entering membership and subscription info, and got a first-hand look at conspiracy theories. Basically, they come about when someone looks at a situation with a set of preconceived notions about What Should Be(tm), sees that the situation contradicts these notions, and stubbornly holds on to the notions, rather than reevaluating them and then either modifying or rejecting them. In order to resolve this conflict, the individual determines that since no Reasonable Person(tm) could possibly believe that the situation is what it seems to be, there must be some kind of hidden agenda involved. In the case of the JBS, since no Reasonable Person(tm) could possibly be a liberal, liberals with obvious intelligence must be conspiring to take over the world and impose their evil will upon it. In the case of online poker, since no Reasonable Person(tm) could possibly believe that AA can get cracked more than half the time (they read about the 4.5-1 heads-up odds and misapply them to a multi-player situation, not realizing that they actually drop because of the number of different ways one of the other players can suck out on them), the sites must be conspiring to deal out cards intentionally designed to favor the people holding 72o or 93o or some such. The reality is, fish school, and there's strength in numbers, often enough to take down a shark holding rockets. One of the books I've read mentioned that good players get sucked out on more often than they suck out, because they fold the crap hands. Sometimes, 72o is the nuts, once the board appears. The good players won't be in that hand. The fish will. Therefore, they appear to get rewarded for their bad play. But in the long term, they bleed chips. I played 2/4 live at Foxwoods a couple of weeks ago. I was getting more than my share of very good hole cards, but I kept running into draws that turned my pocket Qs into second-best hands (I especially remember the Qs, because I got them 4 times, and only won with them once). I got JJ, and got beaten by JTo who rivered his straight after I turned trips. I folded the bad hands, played the good hands aggressively, and backed off when the board and the betting started to tell me it might have made someone else's hand better than mine, but I counted myself lucky to get away from that table down only $60 after 3-4 hours of play. But I don't blame the dealers, nor do I blame the sites when I see a similar run online. I just sigh, and remember the times when I could do no wrong, and continue trying to play as best I can. Hopefully, the next time, I'll make up the losses and then some. -Mike |
