Hard to believe, sometimes.

Well, there are going to be times when you're up against something like this:

http://www.twodimes.net/poker/?g=h&b...+Ad%0D%0AAh+Jc

Or this:

http://www.twodimes.net/poker/?g=h&b...+Ac%0D%0AJh+Jc

Even this doesn't look too bad:

In fact, I couldn't construct a scenario in which I had less than 50% equity *when I was ahead on the turn*. There are a lot of scare cards out there; it's just that most of them are going to hit hands that nobody happens to hold.

hi nate
you can pretty much fold on the turn nate. when the weak UTG raises after you check, he must suspect that you're going for a check-raise so he has you beat. you don't win these nate.

"when I was ahead on the turn".....

that's kinda the key quote there, isn't it...I wasn't advocating folding because I thought that you were ahead, but were gonna be outdrawn. I think you will be behind here a majority of the time, and get outdrawn another 30-40%.

Retry your numbers w/ one overpair, one nut flush draw w/ a pair, and a set.

Also, remember that you are drawing completly dead to A5 and 56, both are viable for the type of game you describe. So what, are you going to make it three bets so you can fold to the four bet.
Or are you going to pay off like a slot machine when the Kd comes on the river?

Knowing the table and guessing to what exact opponent that was, I say stick to your plan and 3-bet.

I was a little under the influence of a few chemicals when we were on that table, but it was a great table.

Peace,
Joe Tall

well, i think at this spot you have to think what possible hands ur opponents might have... pocket 7's is possible, also maybe A5's(not playable for a tightass like me, but possible anyway), he is calling a 3bet preflop.
but i think when 1 guy comes right out betting, next guy raises and the next player cold-calls, u r beaten...it is very hard to fold an high over pair like that, but thats what i would do now...

Nate,

I think I've read enough of your posts to know with solid certainty that you 3-bet.

I also speculate that you lost the hand and was shown a set of something. My reasons for believing this have already been said by others who have responded, so, I will leave it at that.

Default Result

I 3-bet and was called by everyone.

The river came a blank, an offsuit 8 I think, I bet out again and was called 3 times (!) and my hand was good. (At the particular site that I was playing at, there is no way to see losing hands).
