This is very similar to the hand I posted a day or 2 ago. Another big mistake? Guess I am on the looong learning curve.

Nope, no way I can lay this down against the typical online pumpkinheads*. You probably got pushed off your hand by a random King or a big flush draw. There is the possibility of a set but even with a flush draw out, most players like to slow play their sets. If he has a freak two pair, good for him but I call here.

krazy,just curious - what did you put your opponent on before you folded? This flop looks pretty good for you. What kind of flop would you have called the all in with?

I figured him for pocket KK or trips. This is the last time this will happen, for now on this will be an automatic call.

I am still a little gun shy with bets especially the last few weeks have been running bad. Seems like every time I build my stack up a hand like this comes along and just takes it back.

I call 99% of the time with that flop.

On this flop, unless I know him to be a pure rock, he's going to have to prove he can beat an overpair.

Well, a call here may not always be automatic although for a typical PP opponent then perhaps a great majority of the time it is. There is the possibility that you were indeed beat by a set although given a similar situation over a 100 times you'd probably show a profit by calling.

You also need to be calling here for future hands as you don't want players pushing you off your big pockets when you're in the lead and they over represent a hand or even a draw. This time you had the goods to back it too.

here's my question. if he flopped a monster, or a hand that can beat AA, why is he scaring everybody out of the pot with such a huge bet?

to me, that looks more like a guy who flopped a pair of kings and doesn't want a club flush to beat him.

Why the weak flop bet? It hardly exuded power - don;t you think it may have goaded him into trying to push you off the pot? No way I fold here for that shallow money on party.

No way can you fold here.

If this guy makes a set he wins your money (except where you outdraw him) - simple as that.

This guy is getting the odds to hit a set with his call pre-flop, assuming the following:
i) he will get all-in on the flop EVERY time he hits
ii) you have an overpair or TPTK
iii) you do not outdraw him on the turn or river
iv) you do not hit the top set

Against this stack - bet $7 on the flop, call the all-in check-raise. If you lose - TOUGH, reload and go again.

Betting small and folding here is a losing play online.
