Canterbury auto-shufflers

This weekend I noticed an auto-shuffler at one of the tables (#10, I think?). Are they testing these out before they put them in all the tables? How is it going over with the players? I can imagine some conspiracy theorists getting upset that they can't see the cards being shuffled.

Many Vegas casinos have them. If you are a winning player they are good for you cuz you will play more hands per hour. That also helps the dealers hourly tip rate and the rooms rake. The only problem with them will be if they jam. I don't know how many more hands per hour they will squeeze out but if they are found to be cost effective you will see most tables with them in a year.

I am under the assumption they won't go in on the tables in the back section near the temple of -ev.

These things have been in use in Tunica for quite some time and they're fantastic. Really speeds things up, but I think exactly how many extra hands per hour depends on which particular dealer would otherwise be shuffling...

Also, jamming is rarely a problem. I've only seen it happen a couple of times and it slows things down just for a minute. A couple other advantages: they count the deck every shuffle, and my personal favorite, they seem to have cut down the number of requests for deck changes (since there's a new one each hand) and, don't get me started, setups. However much faster they are, the casinos must figure it's worth it considering the cost to buy them outright... $10K+ by all accounts (highest figure I heard was $14K).

You cannot buy them outright. Shufflemaster only leases them.

The Monte Carlo in vegas uses them and they do a great job in speeding up the game. Now if only the bozos would quit asking for a setup every 10 minutes to change their luck...

What are you going to do, quit going to Canterbury if they get Shufflemasters in the $15/30 game? Puhleeze. I've played with them, and I like them. Seems to me that they have only had $4/8 and smaller on tables 10 and 17 since they put the Shufflemasters in. Why they need to study things for two months before adding them to other tables is beyond me. The extra few hands an hour makes it better for everybody. I didn't know they counted down the deck every hand. That's a bonus right there. Maybe they can introduce Pineapple now. I had been told that the reason they wouldn't spread it is the threat of people holding out cards.
