The turn I raised to protect my hand from a singleton club. Also, I didn't like the button (a decent player) being around and wanted to try and drive him out. This did work. In fact, I suspect I may have driven out a better/the same ace- after all, he did cold call my preflop raise, and stuck around for the turn.

Less importantly I also found out information with sb's reraise. If I were to just call down it would have cost me the same, without the benefit of protecting my hand. Thus, the raise. I agree it's pretty aggressive.

As far as the sb betting the turn, I suspect he would have done that anyways with or without the turn Q. If he didn't hit that set I would have charged him the maximum to play on.

Thanks for the reply.

Leon

lots of calling stations, including several who will call the whole way with bottom pair.

This is good to hear. I'm pretty sure my next trip to FW will have me in this game. As for the hand, I like the play. Tough turn. How do you proceed if the turn is a club and he checks? or bets?

I can give someone credit for a club. I'd fold on the turn for one bet, which is sort of why I played it as I did. Fold or check/fold.
