Default JTo in the SB - 2/4

I was pretty dissapointed with my play here. J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in the small blind. EP calls, LP calls, I complete, BB checks.

Flop: 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
I lead out, BB folds, EP and LP call.

Turn: Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
So I've got a pair and an open ender. OK, I bet out again. MP raises, LP 3 bets. I think for a long time and fold. I am thinking one of the two players has JK and I'm jsut drawing to a chop. Is this weak tight thinking? I think so.

The river brought the K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] which would have given me the nut straight. EP shows 9s in the hole for a set of 9s, LP shows ATo for 2 pair. EP takes down the 11.5 BB pot.

Did I play this wrong, or is this just my hindsight speaking since a king fell on the river.

I would have called the turn. You had ten outs (4 8's, 4 K's, 2 T's) giving odds of 3.6/1 of hitting, and pot odds of at least 4.75/1 if you called the 3-bet.

Even if you stayed for the river here, you couldn't push the betting too much because of the flush on the table. You were drawing on fifth street - hitting a jack or a ten would do nothing for you.

Leaving you the K out for a total of 4 outs. This gives you odds of 11:1, so i'de say it was a good lay down. Consider yourself lucky that a 10 didn't hit (or a J for that matter).

Anytime you make a move that you would also do if you knew your opponents exact cards, you made a good move.

So, good move.

I haven't read anyone else but I probably go in to check fold on the flop on this one. The thing that bothers me about this flop is the flush draw and the ace.

With 4 players I don't have the best hand, could be drawing dead on my str8, 2 pr probably no good on this one, and there is the flush draw out there.

If I decide....I'm playing this one I bet out on the flop and check call one bet on the turn but a bet and a raise I'm worried about the str8 and I lay it down. Your situation, bet, reraise, 3 bet.....someone is telling me to fold and even if I knew their cards I lay it down.

There is the math of it in your turn decision. Odds of making the str8, (8 outs 2 of them dirty), odds that if it wins it's good, (better str8 out there, flush draw but not as likely with all of the turn action), and will you get paid off if it hits, (likely and maybe for a c/r but are you going to C/R when that Kh hits????).

The money you're getting from the pot isn't all that great so laying it down here seems like the only play from any aspect.
