2 Monitors for playing poker
I've been looking into getting a 2nd monitor. Those that have upgraded to two monitors, do you have a good website that explains my options clearly? There seems like so many ways to do it and so many different levels of graphic cards/splitters I'm not sure what to get.

Re: 2 Monitors for playing poker
If you're looking for cheap you can get a nVidia 5200FX card. These cards will go on sale at Best Buy for about $60-80 depending on rebate.
Anything by nVidia that has nView Technology will allow you to run dual monitors. |

Re: 2 Monitors for playing poker
Dual Monitors is a feature built in to Windows. It is extremely easy to setup. I use a program called UltraMon that makes it even more powerful. I have a hotkey that I press which automaticaly toggels a window back and forth between the two monitors. It also adds a taskbar to the bottom of the second monitor.
As for setting up the dual monitors in Windows, simply select which monitor should be on the left and right and select which monitor you want as your "master" or "default" monitor. Nothing beats two 18" LCDs. Throw in a TV Tuner Card and you will never get up! =) |

Re: 2 Monitors for playing poker
Look for a the cheapest video card that says it supports dual monitors on the box. (should be in the 50-100$ range)
it will probably have one VGA output (the normal one) and a another digital something or another output. Buy an adapter D?? to VGA. Install the card, and it should be plug and play. I did it a couple weeks ago, it was worth the investment. Best, Zooey |

Re: 2 Monitors for playing poker
Most video cards that have both a VGA and DVI port will come with a DVI to VGA adapter. But if you have a monitor that supports DVI use it! Big difference!

Most video cards that have both a VGA and DVI port will come with a DVI to VGA adapter. [/ QUOTE ] If your video card's DVI output is DVI-D (not DVI-I), then it won't accept an adaptor to convert it to VGA. The only way to convert DVI-D to VGA is with a very expensive digital to analog convertor (not worth the price). The DVI-D output will work fine with a monitor that supports DVI-D; and like jaybird said, this is the perferred method if your monitor supports it. [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]'s King |

stylish1: WOW! Those wall mounts are amazing! I'm really considering getting one. Do you have one? How hard is it to setup?
