Default I\'ve found someplace more incompetant than party support

The Winner is the USPS, I am having a package delivered to me in Urbana, IL. Here is the tracking from the package

Your item was processed and left our HAZELWOOD, MO facility on February 07, 2004. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

Here is what happened earlier:
ENROUTE, February 06, 2004, 8:44 am, FOREST PARK, IL 60130
ACCEPTANCE, February 05, 2004, 12:23 pm, MOMENCE, IL 60954
ELECTRONIC SHIPPING INFO RECEIVED, February 04, 2004

So from the 5th to the 7th USPS has managed to move the package 60 miles further away from its destination each day. With it traveling within 50 miles of Urbana on the Forest Park to Hazlewood leg assuming it was trucked on the interstates that provide the most direct routes.
Assuming the package comes directly here from the current destination it will have traveled a total of 550 miles to deliver it 93 miles.

Default Winner?

You mean the loser is the USPS and the likely winner is
FedEx, right?

Default it\'s a basic function of beaurocracies...

that they become more and more inefficient as time passes. Eventually their only purpose becomes the perpetuation of themselves. By shipping your package nearly six times further than it needed to go, they kept themselves in six times more business than they would have otherwise gotten had they just shipped it directly. Welcome to the USA!

Not sure what their plan is but doesn't Fedex take everything to Memphis, not matter where it is going?

I'm sure they'd be willing to move your parcel directly to your location if you are willing to pay for a truck dedicated for that purpose. Everyone else will just have to make due with the hubs like every other shipping company uses. From your post it looks like they have a hub in Hazlewood, MO that covers your area and another in Forest Park, IL that covers Momence, IL.

And what did you say that parcel cost you to ship?

Think before you criticize. There's plenty to criticize the USPS for. Using hubs to keep costs down is not one of them.

I'm curious. Was this package shipped by overstock.com?

Yes it was an order from overstock.com.

Also I've had several things delivered here before via USPS from the Momence location and they have all gone to forest park and then directly to Urbana. Items from Western states have come through the Hazlewood hub and then to Urbana from there.

Then they either changed something or they made a mistake. Either way, you only paid about $2.50 for the shipment. It may cost you more than that to pick it up from the PO is you're not home for delivery.
