Default Poker In Tunica

I have been to Tunica twice now to play, as that is the only casino close to me. However, I have stayed at The Grand both times and have not played anywhere else. I was wondering where some soft games are...or some good tourneys to get into. I like the Grand and everything, but there were some good players even at the 4-8 last time and I know there has to be some better games somewhere. Also, wondering if anywhere had a NL regular game?

The 4/8 at the Grand is often soft; you may have just been on the wrong weekends or something. Also, you won't find more regular tournaments, though all the other cardrooms have them. Just call to check schedules.

Try the Gold Strike for low-limits. Their 3/6 games are definitely soft. They also spread 1/2 NL HE on the weekends, and sometimes PL Omaha. Also, consider staying there. The food is waaaay better than the Grand, and you don't have to take a bus across the street to get to the casino. I chime in periodically with a plug for these guys; it's my favorite room. Rarely anything above 6/12, though, so keep that in mind.

The Horseshoe is right next door to the GS, and usually quite busy even when other rooms are slow. I don't play there, but my friends who do report that the 4/8 is often wild.

Sam's Town has a 2/4 HE game that always seems to be populated by beginners and retirees exclusively. Pretty dang soft, but also boring. Their 4/8 is pretty good. Decent room, but too smoky for my taste.

Hope some of this helps.

George

Thanks for the info. I played in the middle of the week and everybody there were pretty much regulars and knew each other and old. I don't think they like the young "punk" like me winning very much. I will definetly try the other place.

I couldn't disagree with you more about the food. I found the quality of the buffets in Tunica to be very good EXCEPT for the Gold Strike. Was there on a Saturday evening which should have been a good spot and everything that I tried (12 dishes maybe) was poorly prepared or cold. Grand's Friday Seafood buffet was one of the best I have had. Horseshoe was very good at mulitple times. Sam Town was good. Corky's at Sam's Town was good.

But since this is about Poker too . I think George was right on about that. Horseshoe has a lot of good games on the weekends in my experience (loose agressive and loose passive games at low limits).

Look, as far as food goes, head to Memphis and find some BBQ. Takes about 20-30 minutes, but it's worth it.

Poker at the Grand, as was said, can be quite soft. Lots of tourists playing 27 hoping for miracles. I found the Horseshoe to have similar play. I didn't play at the Gold Strike.
