major,
This is an opponent I know very well, and he is a player who gives a lot of respect to my aggression...I was certain that this player would check his TPTK to me.

Otherwise, I would not have made this play on the flop.

...especially because he doesn't deserve it this time.

"56s hand...how bad did I play this?"

After reading this thread, does anyone else think Ropey really meant to call this thread "56s hand...I think I played it brilliantly and let me tell you why"?

The play itself is fine if kept in extreme moderation against opponents who are incapable of adjusting. There are 2 problems with it though.

1. The ridiclous idea in this thread that you can eliminate a pair based on nothing whatsoever other than a gut feeling. He raised preflop, this tells you absolutely nothing other than you *can't* eliminate a big pair.

2. Doing this in MP is suicide, even against such an opponent. You will simply run into a big hand behind you or someone in the BB willing to chuck in 2 more sbs too often for it to be a long-term +EV play. Once that 3rd player comes in, you're screwed, and even when they don't, you have to pray they miss.

Other than those 2 things, it's fine in extreme moderation against opponents who don't adapt. In other words, there just ain't a whole lot of practical use for it.
