Default 10/10 utg star tourney?? Help

Chip count: 14895 avg:11300 or so 160 people left 100 get paid Blinds 300-600 ante 50

I have black tens utg and I raise to 2400, folded to the button who has a stack of around 30000. He is a very loose player preflop and I have seen him raise with week hands. Anyway, he reraises to 8200. The blinds fold, what do you do?

Loose raiser or not I think you have to lay it down. If you call you are all in and I find that if you are forced to call a reraise with hands like 1010, JJ or worse you are beat.

I'd muck 'em. Even a raise from JQ-QK (since he's loose) and you'd be uncomfortable to play almost all-in. There's just too many hands to lose to with pocket tens and a reraise of that size.

Where there's "Muck", there's Brass

He might be a loose raiser, but is he a loose reraiser? There is a huge difference generally on a reraise your not planning on stealing. I think you have to lay it down as you are either facing two overcards in the best situation, or a higher pair.

I like the aggressive preflop bet with the 10's under the gun, but the raise is a bit too much to call. Even an unskilled player will realize you have some kind of hand to come out betting UTG. I don't really like his re-raise since he priced you out of the hand if he has a big pocket pair and he could run into AA or KK if he is stealing but that's another matter.

Absolute best case scenario for you is that he has only one overcard or a smaller pair and even then do you really want to get involved with a stack that large with only pocket 10's?

I say you either push in or fold with fold being a much more attractive option. Also if you do push in and your read is correct (he will almost certainly call at this point) you still run the risk of being busted if he outdraws you.

You definitely have to fold the 1010 to a reraise here. There's one other problem I see, 1010 is a hand that you do not want to see the flop with in early position. With 300/600 blinds and another 500 in antes, there's already 1400 in the pot. You have two options, your initial raise needs to be larger or dare I say you could try and limp. With 15000 in chips if you raise to 4000 in this situation, then he has to call 3400 (more then 10% of his stack) and is getting less then 2 to 1 for his money. That way if he re-raises you can easily lay this down.
