Default abbreviations

Sorry for being such a newbie, but can someone explain what these abbreviations mean:

UTG
UTG+1
MP
MP1
MP2
MP3
EP

I believe these all refer to position, but I can't figure it out.

Thanks.

Default Re: abbreviations

UTG = under the gun (1st to act preflop)
UTG+1 = person to act after UTG
MP = middle position
MP+1 = person to right of MP
EP = early position

When 10 handed, the preflop actions rotates as follows UTG, UTG+1, MP, MP+1, MP+2, MP+3, CO (cutoff), Button (last to act on each post-flop round who has the dealer button in front of them), small blind (SB) and big blind (BB).

Other like to think in 10 handed games that the first three players are early position (EP), the next three players are middle position (MP), than the last 2 players before the blinds are late position (LP), then the small blind (SB) and big blind (BB)

One small correction, while UTG+1 indicates the person after UTG (i.e. the person to the left of UTG), MP1, MP2, MP3 indicate 1st middle position player, 2nd middle position player, etc. EP1, EP2 similarly are Early Position player 1, Early Position player 2 (which would be the 2 players to the left of UTG). MP1 does not indicate the person to the left of MP, but MP him/herself.
