With the recent explosion of internet gaming, its only a matter of time before they legalize it. Too many tax dollars are going uncollected, both from the sites and the players. The US gov. will not stand by and lose all that revenue....imo.

Default Mastercard and VISA already beat that rap

Larry Walters is a 1st Amendment attorney from Miami who wants to challenge the actions of the Justice Department, which is conducting this "investigation" to scare broadcasters, a la Joe McCarthy.

The truth is that the article is VERY poorly worded and plain wrong. The only Court of Appeals case which discussed this "1960's statute" clearly said it does NOT apply to online casinos, even if it did apply to online bookies. So, it would not apply to online poker, which isn't even a banked game. (The federal case had been filed against Mastercard and VISA for facilitating this supposed "illegal" activity.) The Supreme Court refused to review that decision (the District Court had tossed the case out and the Circuit Court upheld the dismissal), I believe.

Ask your Senators to vote for freedom and against Prohibition if any internet gambling bill comes up next session.

(Party, UB or Paradise are not violating the Federal Wire Act by offering internet poker games. Because Interops and VIP also accept sports bets, one cannot say the courts have ruled in their favor as yet.)

Except for the fact that congressmen have a lot of votes to lose to bible-belting constituents.

It was funny, about 6 months ago New York City Mass Transit Authority ran ads on busses for BetOnSports.com. They took them down a few weeks later when someone took their head out of their ass.
