**Terminology Question**

Please define the following terms:

EP1
EP2
MP1
CO

sorry - I know I'm a newbie, but your help is appreciated

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm actually sketchy on some of the terms too, the problem is some people us them when they mean something else, as far as the ones you asked about

EP1: Early Postition 1
EP2 Early postition 2
MP1 Middle position 1

If anyone cares to fill me in as far as placement goes in a ten person game would it be as follows

To dealers left:

UTG
EP1
EP2
MP1
MP2
LP1
LP2
SB
BB
BT/Button:

CO is the player to the immediate right of the button.

There is no exact definition of when you move from EP to MP to LP.

Esteemed posted Homer J. Simpson last year suggested an alternative notation system that was more precise and suitable for all games with less than ten players. SB and BB stayed the same and all other players were designated in relation to how far to the right of the button they were, starting with the button himself being B0.

clockwise... Button, SB, BB, UTG, UTG+1, EP1, EP2, MP1, MP2, LP, CO. Next to CO is Button, where we started. Obviously different people may do it differently, but this is the general idea.

Hmm - I've always thought it's as follows:
SB
BB
UTG or EP1
EP2 or UTG+1
EP3 or UTG+2
MP1 or EMP
MP2 or MMP or sometimes just MP
MP3 or LMP or CO-1
CO or LP or LP1 or BT-1
BT or LP2

EP can be used as a general term for any of the Early Positions, MP for any of the Middle Positions and LP for any of the Late Positions (CO or Button)

In a 6 handed game you have SB, BB, UTG, MP or UTG+1 or CO-1, CO or LP1 , BT or LP2

UTG is Under the Gun and is always the first person to act after the deal, so depending on the game UTG could be anywhere from an EP seat to an LP seat (in a 2 handed game UTG, SB and, usually, BT would be one and the same although UTG would rarely be used in a HU game)
