4yrs.; 100 BBs in 5hrs B&M (a little over 200 hands)
I just finished an online "sit still" (stayed basically even) of about 10,000 hands.
In part time play the last 4 years from 3-6 to 25-50 (approx 2000 hrs total 1/2 B&M 1/2 online) I average just over 2BB/hr. |

Re: Please respond with:
1) Started in January 2001
2) 150+ BB at shorthanded 5-10, but that didn't last very long in terms of hours. I also lost 100BB($3,000) in one day at 15-30. Didn't really bother me that much though. It was just one of those days. Cup |

getting better
[ QUOTE ]
First of all, great thread. What sticks out to me is the amount of time people have been playing...or 'playing seriously'...and it seems to me that the average time may be around 6 months or less. Very few I read have been playing more than a year. I would chalk these big losing streaks up to inexperience. Sure, 125 BB is certainly possible, and I'm sure it has happened to many people...but as these players approach 2-3 years, I would venture to say that these losing streaks will be much lower, and shorter. -ropey [/ QUOTE ] Been playing 18 months, both B&M and online. Worst streak B&M: apx. 85 BB. Worst streak online: see, that's where Ropey is right on. At first I was clueless online, so I didn't so much have a losing streak as I just got my but kicked for 250 BB. After restarting 4 months ago, my worst streak is 30 BB. |

Re: Please respond with:
Pre reading and studying books:
1 month 200 BB since i was a retard Post books: 3 months 100 bb By the way, for the gentleman (dopey, ropey) who doesn't understand how a good player can lose so many bb in a streak: ask David Ross. If I remember correctly he has posted days losing more than a grand (1650 in 5 hours) and he plays 5/10 i think. Albeit, it is shorthanded. But fact still remains, and nobody around here would say he was not a good player. |

Re: Please respond with:
Post books:
3 months 100 bb My losing streak (200BB+) was post books. All said, I think I've read and re-read 6 books. And, while my play during that losing streak wasn't the greatest I'm sure, iirc most of the major losses were from spiking bigish hands that were draw out on expensively. - Groove |

Re: Please respond with:
1. 2 years, playing 3/6 - 4/8 off and on in B&M games. 2002 was spotty. In 2003, I've been playing 2-3 times/week since August.
2. 100 BB. (Average of 3/6 and 4/8 with 3/6 being worst) I've played poker with the buds, including holdem, in mixed home games for 6+ years. Tried card room holdem for the first time back in '96 at the Monte Carlo in Vegas. At the time I knew how to call. My chips disappeared fairly rapidly... bdy |
