Semi-steal vs somewhat overtight, but good bb
Converted at PokerGeek
Absolute Limit Hold'em Ring - $5/$10 Stakes (6 handed) Starting Stacks Seat 1: Button ($85.32) Seat 2: Small blind (Hero) ($356.44) Seat 5: Big blind ($233.92) Seat 6: UTG ($264.92) Seat 8: LP ($193.50) Seat 9: CO ($87) BB is 23/16.0/3.4. 150ish hand sample I think. The game was initially 3 handed with him vs 2 huge fish and I sat down shortly afterward between the fish and him. He was almost equally tight 4 handed. Game was too good and filled up recently. Preflop: Hero is Small blind with T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 4 folds, Hero raises, Big blind calls Flop: (4.00 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets, Big blind raises, Hero calls Turn: (4.00 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, Big blind bets, Hero? What do you think the best options are on this turn. I really saw several possibilities and I was lost on which way to go. If it matters at all I was originally planning on check raising any non spade. turn. |

Re: Semi-steal vs somewhat overtight, but good bb
I'll bump this up as i think its interesting. Id probably call the turn but wheter or not thats the right play i really dont know.
The worst part with another spade hitting is that a CR will look like such an obvious bluff. But i still think he could raise us on the flop with just bottom pair and therefore a call and a c/f on an unimproved river seems like the best play. |

Re: Semi-steal vs somewhat overtight, but good bb
I think this is a call, since our flush outs are decent, our K outs are almost certainly good, and our T outs look pretty good as well. He is definitely capable of raising the flop with worse than top pair, which means we have a lot of outs to beat him on the river. Call and fold the river UI.

Call and fold the river UI. bet/call when you hit the flush or K. c/c the T

Re: Semi-steal vs somewhat overtight, but good bb
I would drop it here. Even if you have 9 clean outs you aren't losing by folding here and I think your spade draw is severely tainted. This guy is tight as you say and he raised the flop and bet the turn, even heads up you must give him 'SOME' respect.

Wondering why you called the flop raise? One over pair and a backdoor 2nd nut flush draw, bout 3 outs. Did you think there was a rather big chance he's just stealing? I fold to this flop raise usually, should I not?

[/ QUOTE ] slightly better chance of having the best hand, a backdoor flush draw to the nuts, and an additional backdoor straight (to the wheel). |
