Re: Scientists Find A DNA Change That Accounts For White Skin
JackWhite,
This debate had entered the relam of the surreal. Blacks aren't better sprinters than whites. Whites are better, what was it you said, at being in cold weather than blacks. Race doesn't exsit. We're 99.9999999999% the same. I can't believe you are saying what I think you're saying, so I hope you'll correct me. -waxie |

You don't think there are any phsyical differences based on where you are from in the world? Why do people from East Africa dominate distance running? Why do people of West African decent dominate sprints? Have you ever watched ESPN's strongest man competition? If so, you would have noticed no Kenyans, but a lot of Germans, Poles, and Russians. Coincidence? Have you ever seen people from Central Africa? They are leaner and taller than people from other parts of the world, while Eskimos are generally short and stocky. Both of these are a result of climate, as you certainly know. If we are all the same, why aren't there Eskimos playing in the NBA? According to your theory, they would have the same chance as anybody, since we are all the same. |

Sure, move a group of Inuits to East Africa, give them the same diet and have them live at the same altitude as the best distance runners and pretty soon you will have excellent inuit runners. To say one group is "taller" is a big joke outside of sub-saharan Africa. A very big joke. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. |

Re: Scientists Find A DNA Change That Accounts For White Skin
Doesn't the netherlands have the tallest average height?

Re: Scientists Find A DNA Change That Accounts For White Skin
Yup, they do. We did fifty years ago. We have been, proportionately, shrinking in the United States.
Increasing research suggests that height corresponds not simply to "diet" or "environment," but also to the nebulous concept of "social health." Dutch people are not a "race," and they are significantly taller than most people. |

Well, aside from the dutch, I think the average height for a male in europe is 6 feet. I think its only about 5 feet 9 inches here in the states.

Yeah, thats what I mean. We are shrinking. Fifty years ago we were the tallest in the world. Makes the "social health" theory kind of appealing.

[/ QUOTE ] Couldn't this be explained by demographical changes to at least some degree? Asian and Latin American immigrants are hardly increasing the average height. |

Nope. So called "white people," relative to "white people" elsewhere in the world are shrinking if they live in the United States. |

West Africans aren't better sprinters then others. East Africans aren't better distance runners. Northern Europeans don't have better upper body strength. It is all nonsense. In all seriousness. Anybody who is denying physical differences between different groups of human beings is ignoring a lot of evidence. Ok, forget "race" and let's say "geography." You know what is meant. And you really believe that if you took some inuits and put them in a different climate and trained them, that you could produce some great sprinters? Have you ever seen a picture of an inuit? Evolution has given them short stocky legs. All the training in the world is not going to produce a great sprinter. I am really amazed that there are educated people who refuse to acknowledge these physical differences. A journalist wrote a book a few years ago called "Taboo" about this topic. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1586480...ce&n=283155 |
