Re: NL100 newbie AK aftrer raise question
A reraise to, say, $15 will most likely get you heads up with the short stack as a slight dog to a pair.
Holdem Hi: 1712304 enumerated boards cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV As Kh 728909 42.57 978073 57.12 5322 0.31 0.427 Tc Td 978073 57.12 728909 42.57 5322 0.31 0.573 Calling might bring a long one or two others, which would increase your potential pot odds if you do get another couple of callers, but then they'd have position on you post flop. If most of the players behind are pretty tight post flop, I think I call and make a flop bet to take it down if I hit an A or K on the flop. The reason is to try and get a better payoff for the chance to hit my A or K on the flop. |

Re: NL100 newbie AK aftrer raise question
I'm preferring an isolation move. These shortstacks are on the end of another $200 deposit that they blew in 2 hours and are pushing any ace (more likely) or any pair. Pop it to $15. Any call after this is strong.

Re: NL100 newbie AK aftrer raise question
If you know he has a pair, and you think those behind you will not call a reraise with anything but a huge hand, fold. You are a dog to his pair.
If there are weak players behind you that will call a reraise with hands weaker than or dominated by AK, then reraise. |

Re: NL100 newbie AK aftrer raise question
I would reraise here. You can't *know* he has a pair, certainly not after 50 hands, so your overlay for the amount of times he has two big cards, suited connectors etc. more than makes up for the times you're a slight dog to a pair.
I wouldn't call because he is all in and your AK likes to see all 5 cards - if you allow someone else into the pot and no A or K comes on the flop you're in a difficult spot if someone starts betting into the side pot. |
