I was watching some football today and saw something that I see way too frequently done by the announcers. It is kind of pathetic if you think about it.
Heres the situation: A team runs a deep passing play and it is successful. They go to the instant replay. The announcer says something like "If any QB in the NFL has this much time to throw the ball, he will find an open reciever." Then we see a slow-motion replay. The announcer now says, "look at how much time he has," as he starts to count from the booth "one one thousand, two one thousand, etc.," all during slow-motion. Afterwards, "see, he had 7 seconds in the pocket." Does anyone else notice announcers count in real time during slow-motion replays or do something similarly stupid? |

Color announcers in sports aren't usually the brightest stars in the sky.

The NYG in OT last week got into great field goal range and Shockey was acting all cocky in front of the cameras because of his catch and they miss the easy field goal which was the 3rd missed field goal of the game in a row for them as he is dancing in front of this camera. They then go on to lose.

A 45-yarder is an "easy" FG?

I'm pretty sure that the camera caught Shockey celebrating on the first one.

The best was during an NBA game when the referee called a 5 second violation on an in-bound play. They showed the replay in slow motion, and the announcer counted off "One...Two... Three... Four... Five. Oh, that's definitely a violation."
It was in slow motion!!!!!!11111 |
