Re: Challenging JoAs idea of RB worth?
I'd be interested in knowing what correlation Net Yards Per Pass Attempt has with winning. That's (Passing Yards - Sack Yards) / Attempts. Bud Goode created the stat so long ago, and it's a helluva stat.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] New England plays in a crappy division. [/ QUOTE ] NE has played 2 division games thus far this year. [/ QUOTE ] Um, yeah. What's your point? They have [censored] teams in their division -> [censored] teams go 6-10 -> New England makes the playoffs after going 9-7. [/ QUOTE ] hahah, my bad. I totally misread the post, thought you were saying something about rushing yards and division, not their first place thing. [censored] you too brett |

Re: Challenging JoAs idea of RB worth?
lol. I know you're a Jets fan, and I know I come off as a hater but I'm not. I loved last year's jets. Santana Moss, Kevin Mawae, LMJ/C-Mart, Pennington, Ferguson, etc. I just think they made some dumb moves (some of them trade-wise, soem of them personell wise - ie, rushing pennington two years in a row it now seems). Chad Pennington was gonna be the next Joe Montana everyone said, now everyone's hating. It's sad.

Re: Challenging JoAs idea of RB worth?
[ QUOTE ]
Two examples from this past week's games: The Giants averaged 5.7 yards per carry at Seattle -- a full two yards more than the Seahawks -- but the Seahawks ran the ball five more times (34) and ultimately won. [/ QUOTE ] to be fair, if the giants don't get all those false start penalties and/or miss 3 FGs they do win that game. |

RE: Pennington, yeah, I sort of think that the biggest problem is that Herm never said, "Sorry. I like you, and you're our franchise QB. But you're not playing til your healthy." That and your O Line fell apart. RE: Montana, don't remind me |

Re: Challenging JoAs idea of RB worth?
The single biggest reason the team with the higher YPC doesn't win the game more often is.....
When you have a lead, especially a big one, you are going to plunge the ball into the line against a defense that is looking for you to plunge the ball into the line. Sure, if it's only two or three carries, it won't impact your YPC too much. But if you have a 35-10 lead after three quarters, your fourth quarter stats are going to look something like this: 15 car 35 yds 3 first downs 7 minutes off the clock. |
