squash
from voltron's post:
here's what i don't understand. why do people play squash? seems to me like it's just a sucky version of racquetball where the ball doesn't want to bounce. |

Re: squash
when you warm the ball up (by hitting it, with your opponent) the ball becomes much bouncier. there is somewhat of a learning curve, this is true, but when played right the ball is not dead. couple tips:
try using a new ball. when balls get old (smoother on the outside, shinier) they lose some bounce and are harder to heat up. You can also buy different types of beginners balls, the standard professional ball is a two yellow dot ball, you can buy one dot balls which are faster and bouncier or slightly larger ones with no dot. if you have trouble getting the ball warm, try stepping on it and rubbing it against the ground with your shoe. this will get it warm if you do it for 20 seconds or so. its a really good sport, it is a better workout then racquetball and even though it is more phyiscally demanding it is a thinking game, it is not a power game. its worth it to learn. |

[/ QUOTE ] I gave a smart-ass answer but this is the real reason squash is cooler than racquetball. There is a much greater mental element to it. |

If you are basing this on calories burned per hour, this is not true. If you are basing this statement on muscle condition, i would say this is also not true. |
