play getting tight online?
i recently moved from a sports-book/poker site to the largest poker site (starts with a P).
anyhow, i am completely shocked at how tight the low level (2-4 - just wanted to dip my toe) games are. tons and tons of times, it was folded around to the blinds. i know it's an outdated expression, but i didn't see any real fish at all (maybe me, lol) are people just multi-tabling very tight-aggressive or trying to clear bonuses or something? because very little action and then when there was, the decisions on the flop/turn were so difficult. i'm more used to the sports book where the games are fairly soft but the availability of tables and quality of software are very poor. i moved to get more tables at low limits, but i sure didn't want this. i think i may look for a more crowded sports book type site like will hill or something. wonder if it will have more europeans. anyhow, my theory on sportsbook sites is that many people will have the $$$$$ for their sports bets and will wander over to play some poker. my last generation question: are tight, somewhat aggressive low limit games beatable as per rake (and maybe even blinds)? can you wait a long time for cards or will the blinds kill you?? i noticed you had to play position very aggressively... i am very, very surprised the games were that tight. not that nice loose passive i've seen elsewhere (although less recently) |

Re: play getting tight online?
All low stake games are beatable to soem extent you just have to adjust - that said if you like a site full of maniacs try playing 6 max - that's where they all are now - the most insanely aggro play is meant to be at b2b network (Martin's Poker) and from personal experience I can assure you that Prima 6 max $100 is insane too..I find UB pretty aggro also..

Re: play getting tight online?
I never understood why people who play limits like 1/2 or 2/4 play only at party. At those stakes you have plenty of better choices in poker sites where the games are better and you could chase bonii and rakeback. You could build your bankroll extremely quickly this way.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm sure you'll get a flurry of sarcastic responses, but your observation is correct. Two years ago, these games typically had four or five players to the flop for one or two bets. If you go back and read David Ross' posts from 2003, he was playing four Party 3/6 games and he was absolutely destroying the games while playing a weak/tight style. At that time, the Party 3/6 game played like a B&M 3/6 game. Now, it plays about like a B&M 15/30 game. |

Re: play getting tight online?
thanks for the excellent responses!!!
no sarcasm/trolling yet, but i'm hopeful i saw that the shorthanded often had bigger pots than the 10 person. so maybe i'll go there. i have decent experience with that. and have found it a "partial gold mine" elsewhere in the medium past. but you need big bankroll. |

Re: play getting tight online?
just one more thought.
on my old site (the sports book), it seems like all the juicy action went to no-limit (SNG alot) and shorthanded. and my old site isn't a bonus factory or a major poker destination, so it was a very nice fun atmosphere. i made $$$$$ consistently at low limit full table, but gave i back quickly in no-limit and extreme shorthanded (i was always very short on the bankroll). never put in more than $200 and played for a year and a half on that. |
