Direct TV, good/bad? what do i need to get started?
OK, I am finally going to get cable TV. I already have earthlink cable modem by Time Warner, so.....
Would it better to just get the cable package offered by Time Warner or.... get Direct TV, sry for the noob question, but I have no idea what direct TV offers, what do i need to get started? I know they sell it at Best Buy but there is never a freakin associate available to answer my questions. |

Re: Direct TV, good/bad? what do i need to get started?
DirecTV: -has NFL Sunday Ticket
-does NOT have TNT-HD (although it does have regular TNT) Dish Network: -has TNT-HD -does NOT have NFL Sunday Ticket otherwise, all things being equal I prefer DirecTV, and I VASTLY prefer either over cable. Better picture quality, more channels, more options, lower price, better service...you name it. Why anyone has cable TV I really don't know. |

Problem with direct tv is that it goes out everytime it storms. Other than that I have no qualms about it. [/ QUOTE ] Same w/ Dish Network...that's a somewhat unavoidable problem w/ any satellite system; however, it has to really be storming, it's not like it goes out any time it starts raining. |

If you want HD, then you will need an HDTV. Otherwise, no.

Check the signal strength and make some adjustment. |

Re: Direct TV, good/bad? what do i need to get started?
I have Directv and love it. Unlike what others have said, I have never had it go out in a storm. I live in Central California, so we get some bad rain and hail storms, but no snow. The only thing I wish it had that it doesn't is On Demand. Other than that, I love it.

Best reason to go DirecTV -- TiVo
DirecTV with TiVo is the single best reason to go DirecTV. TiVo is $5 extra a month for as many outlets as you want (not per outlet as my local cable charges), the units are cheap ($50-100) and integration is seamless.
