Re: simple preflop question: defending blinds
AQ is about the cutoff for what I will play in the blinds against this opponent. AQs I call and sometimes raise. 22-99 at least call for set equity. If I have a history with the villain and more of a read on how he views my play, I sometimes raise with the pairs in the higher end of that range with a plan to lead out any flop.
It does make a difference whether he is in MP/LP. You need to give a little more credit to the MP opener. |

Re: simple preflop question: defending blinds
If all I have are stats on the guy, I'm probably calling with all the hands mentioned. If I have played with him often, and we both know each other and respect each other, I may reraise with AQ and 88-99. Maybe. That's a little frisky for me. In other words, I would have to know that villian knows that I'm not generally reraising from the blinds without JJ-AA, AK; and then I would be OK with reraising with those other hands.
