Flopped Boat, is my line decent?
rethinking a hand a few games ago... sorry I lost the hand history but best I can do from memory below:
$0.50-1 NL (longhand) @ Pokerroom... tight table, no LAGs I ($90) raise to $3 UTG +1 with Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] MP +1 ($110) calls $3 SB folds BB (~80) calls $2 Pot is $9.50 flop is Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] BB checks, I check, MP checks... turn is 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] BB bets $10, I go for the overcall, MP calls Pot is ~$40 Turn is A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] BB checks, I half bet the pot (~$20), hoping someone hit the ace... MP calls, BB calls Final Pot: ~$100 Standard? |

Re: Flopped Boat, is my line decent?
yea without any LAG players at the table your going to have to let them catch up a bit before they will invest any more chips into the pot. Flop check was fine (would have check-raised this or just called?). Turn call is great allowing 3rd player to come along for the ride and pick up some extra chips. Value bet on river is nice, what did BB bet the turn with and MP call, PP and Q?

Re: Flopped Boat, is my line decent?
you may have got all you could from that pot. They must of both had pairs lower then the queen. Like 99 and tt.
BB could of had KQ QJ and was going for the check raise on the flop, hence the bet on the turn and the check call when the ace came off. Point is, No one was giving you indication that they where ready to give you action. The hands where both marginal and you did well to get them to both pay you off. I find keeping 3 in the pot like you did on the turn to be a good tactic. better chance that one of them makes a flush on the river. |

Re: Flopped Boat, is my line decent?
NH. I think you made the most of it.
Only thing you could have done differently was make the standard CB hoping someone puts you on missed overs, but that usually only works at a looser table. I like your line with the tight table. |

Re: Flopped Boat, is my line decent?
at a LAGgy table i might have tried it but play had been pretty solid so i decided to just let people catch up

Re: Flopped Boat, is my line decent?
Nice post. Overlooking table conditions is a common error that is always worthy of discussion, especially when you can show the positive effects of being alert to your surroundings.

RESULTS:
BB shows As Jc (makes sense with the blank on the turn, fires off a PSB to take it down...)
I show my boat MP mucks (had Ad 3d) drawing at the backdoor (looser call than I expected, but I guess he was priced into it) |

Re: Flopped Boat, is my line decent?
Your line is decent. I would personally CBet the flop, but maybe that's just me.

Re: Flopped Boat, is my line decent?
would you check the flop if you had AA? how about AK? how about 76s?
for me, checking the flop 3-handed after i've raised would be out of harmony with my playing style on all other hands. |
