four hands from last night\'s 45k
I thought these were interesting, or at least somewhat challenging.
Hand 1: Down to 4 or 5 tables. Villain is GambleAB. Been here several orbits and watched him raise that same amount 2-3 times a round. So thoughts on all streets appreciated. (He bet the flop reasonably quickly, checked the turn instantly, and took 5-10 seconds to bet the river, if you consider those things.) PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t12000 (8 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx CO (t62488) Hero (t206804) SB (t176496) BB (t192212) UTG (t145208) UTG+1 (t281597) MP1 (t130634) MP2 (t64885) Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 1 fold, UTG+1 raises to t26400, 3 folds, Hero calls t26400, 2 folds. Flop: (t57000) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG+1 bets t26400, Hero calls t26400. Turn: (t109800) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG+1 checks, Hero checks. River: (t109800) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG+1 bets t55000, Hero calls t55000. Final Pot: t219800 Hands 2-4 are at the final table. My image is pretty LAG if not maniacal. (I busted the 9th place finisher when my failed steal with 43o was reraised all in and I still called getting 3.5 to 1 or so.) Table is fairly tight although they loosen up their reraising standards against me. With that in mind... Hand 2: What kind of range can I put villain on? He has made a similar raise once or twice before and not shown down but bet very strongly on the flop. And what is my action? PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t40000 (8 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx Hero (t1974227) CO (t242898) Button (t1111440) SB (t928056) BB (t1057440) UTG (t2003422) UTG+1 (t1415324) MP1 (t463693) Preflop: Hero is MP2 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 3 folds, Hero raises to t130000, 2 folds, SB raises to t360000, 1 fold, Hero... Hand 3: Given my image, what range do you put villain on? Is my opening raise OK? Can/should I call this, and if not, what do I need? He paused for about 15 seconds before making the raise. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t60000 (7 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx Hero (t1629034) MP1 (t658338) MP2 (t852056) CO (t1131440) Button (t981422) SB (t2146824) BB (t1797386) Preflop: Hero is UTG with 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Hero raises to t200000, 1 fold, MP2 raises to t849056, 4 folds, Hero... Hand 4: Villain has raised my big blind every time it has folded to him on the button. I have taken it back twice by pushing all-in (with legitimate hands, but I have not shown them down). How's this move? PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t60000 (7 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx Hero (t1036956) UTG (t655338) MP1 (t1809112) MP2 (t1123440) CO (t423444) Button (t2002824) SB (t2145386) Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 4 folds, Button raises to t240000, 1 fold, Hero raises to t1033956... |

Bump for the day crowd. Anyone have any thoughts? I had a little trouble with some of these decisions.

Re: four hands from last night\'s 45k
hand 1: i think call here on river is fine. if not, then why play A5, bc flop was pretty good.
hand 3: think its a pretty safe call. hes short stacked and been doing it often. its prob a coinflip and your gettinga decent price. |

Re: four hands from last night\'s 45k
1) I dont call that pf, but considering you did, i like the post flop streets.
2) I dunno, but it's close. 3) I might fold pf, but i'm definately folding to the raise. Coinflip looks like the best case scenario 4) I like. |

Re: four hands from last night\'s 45k
sorry, i guess to answer your question more precisely, on hand 1: given that you checked the turn, you must know that you will face a bet on the river. if you werent comfotable doing that, then bet. but checking and calling the bet on the river i think saves you money as he is then value betting, rather than extracting the maximum. with a bet you can only move him off of draws KQh, or some weird straight draw that he prob. isnt holding.
hand 3: given your image, the range would be fairly large. is he trying to double up, or is he picking on you? either way, i think your call is fine. |

Re: four hands from last night\'s 45k
I would:
Hand 1 - Raise the flop Hand 2 - Fold Hand 3 - Call Hand 4 - I think this is a standard, good play. |

Re: four hands from last night\'s 45k
[ QUOTE ]
Hand 1 - Raise the flop [/ QUOTE ] I treat hand 1 as WA/WB. If I raise I only get action from hands that beat me. I didn't consider the flush draw likely-- but if he does have it, he could reraise all-in unless I committed myself (which would skewer me if I was against a better ace). If I'm ahead he's probably drawing very slim, plus I have a gutshot to compensate. The river bet seemed very much like an "I know I can't win this pot unless I bet, so I bet" bet. Getting 3:1 I figure I'm right often enough to call. I'll give time for more feedback and then I'll post results. Thanks so far guys. |

Re: four hands from last night\'s 45k
results:
Hand 1: Villain showed Jc9c. Hand 2: I thought forever and called. I couldn't bring myself to shove and I also couldn't convince myself I was definitely beaten. Flop was ATx, villain immediately moved in, and I folded. Hand 3: I called. Villain showed AA and it held up. Still don't think the call is a bad play-- but lately I've noticed I'm overplaying those midpairs, or at least finding myself in against an overpair more often than I feel is right. Hand 4: Villain called and showed KK. It's a move I usually make in this spot, but part of me wonders if he knows I'm restealing and was waiting for a legit hand for his next raise. Thanks for comments. |
