Re: Heads Up with AA: FPS or Correct?
I really think capping preflop is better, but I don't think it's that terrible not to. I would bet the flop.

Re: Heads Up with AA: FPS or Correct?
misplayed on every street? slow play is wrong play generally. an overpair to a single villian is still dangerous. win a small pot instead of loosing a big one. cap preflop. show aggression and slow down when met. check and call to river. donk may have hit a set or two pair. the joy of NL and pushing PF is you dont have to play guessing games post flop. get your money in when you have the best of it. if donk wants to chase, variance will always determine the long term winnner.

[/ QUOTE ] This advice is disgustingly wrong. Your play in the AA hand is fine, given you have a read that your opponent is indeed aggressive. I would probably have threebet the river. It's usually better though, to cap without position and be more deceptive when you have position. But this is fine as long as it's a mix-up play, rather than your standard play. |

Re: Heads Up with AA: FPS or Correct?
I agree that if you are slowplaying preflop by not capping you need to show aggression on the flop and get some bets in to make up for the bet you lost preflop.
Bet/call, c/r seems like a decent line, but against an aggro opponent you can usually make more by just jamming post-flop. If 99 sucked out on you, so be it, you WANT 99 to call you down the whole way |

Re: Heads Up with AA: FPS or Correct?
Preflop call is fine heads up, but you have to make it up somewhere.
I had a live hand like this against an extremely aggressive opponent recently and I went bet-3bet/check-raise/check-raise. But I wouldn't advise that sort of madness without a good read. |

Re: Heads Up with AA: FPS or Correct?
cap preflop, continue betting. This is even more awful because you didnt provide a read on villain.

Re: Heads Up with AA: FPS or Correct?
A better line if you ren't going to cap PF. This line requires you to be reasonably sure you're against another big pair and your opponent must be aggressive.
Flop: Bet, call. Turn: Bet, 3-Bet. River: Bet, call/3-bet depending on the opponent. - Jim |
